Gloria Kates, a Councilwoman on the City of Bogalusa Council, serves voluntarily on the Board of Director's finance committee of the Washington Parish Council on Aging. In 2009, the citizens of Bogalusa voted to pass a proposition to continue to levy and collect a special tax of 4 mills on all the property subject to taxation within Bogalusa for ten years beginning with the year 2010 to be allocated 50% for acquiring, constructing, improving, operating and maintaining parks and recreation facilities and programs, and 50% to pay for acquiring, constructing, improving, operating and maintaining public buildings owned by the City, including the Senior Citizens' Center, and operating programs in such public buildings. Ms. Kates would like to participate as a Councilwoman for the City of Bogalusa Council in a resolution that will amend the City of Bogalusa operating budget to accurately reflect proposition language as voted upon by the citizens of Bogalusa in 2009.
