Advisory opinion request regarding whether the Code of Governmental Ethics would prohibit Dave's Pest Control from contracting to supply pest control services to the City of Broussard while Kasie Quebedeaux is employed with the Broussard Fire Department. Kasie Quebedeaux stated that she has been employed with the Broussard Fire Department since March of 2007. She stated that she is not a department head and she has no control over the vendors. Additionally, she provided that she does not have the authority to issue any checks for the City of Broussard or its entities. Additionally, she stated that Bobby Quebedeaux, her father-in-law, is the owner of Dave's Pest Control.

La. R.S. 42:1113A(1)(a) prohibits a public servant or member of such a public servant's immediate family, or legal entity in which he has a controlling interest from bidding on or entering into any contract, subcontract, or other transaction that is under the supervision or jurisdiction of the agency of such public servant.
