Lafourche Parish President James B. Cantrelle requested an advisory opinion on April 19, 2018 regarding whether the Code of Governmental Ethics would prohibit the Lafourche Parish council from voting on April 24, 2018 to rescind a contract to provide legal defense services to President Cantrelle, in his capacity as Lafourche Parish President, to defend him in a federal law suit brought by Reggie Bagala when the Parish Council members are also defendants in the law suit.
