Request that the Board waive the $480 campaign finance late fee assessed against Jack P. Rizzuto, a candidate for Constable, 5th Justice Court, Jefferson Parish in the March 24, 2018 election, whose 2017 Annual campaign finance disclosure report was filed 8 days late.
Facts:
Jack P. Rizzuto states that on December 4, 2017, he personally called the ethics office to ask if he needed to file a 2017 Annual Campaign Report for his time as the interim councilman for Jefferson Parish, District 4. He states he was told he did not need to file anything until he declared candidacy for Constable of District 5 for Jefferson Parish and that the first report was due February 22, 2018.

18:1505.4.A(1) Any candidate, the treasurer or chairman of a political committee, or any other person required to file any reports under this Chapter, who knowingly fails to file or who knowingly fails to timely file any such reports as are required by this Chapter may be assessed a civil penalty for each day until such report is filed. 18:1484.(2)(b). Each candidate for any other public office shall file reports of contributions in excess of two hundred dollars in the aggregate during the aggregating period.
