The Louisiana Rice Research Board and the Louisiana Rice Promotion Board are currently named defendants in two lawsuits filed by numerous rice producers. One member of the Research Board and one member of the Promotion Board are named plaintiffs in the litigation against each board. Each board meets in executive session with their attorney to discuss litigation strategy. The Research Board and the Promotion Board have jointly asked for an opinion as to whether each of the board members who are plaintiffs must be excluded from the executive session.
