Jason Hammack owns a catering company and serves as an appointed board member for the West Baton Rouge Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB). CVB owns the West Baton Rouge Conference Center. Current policy of the CVB is that a caterer be selected from an approved catering list and all payments to caterers are made directly to the CVB, which in turn issues payment to the caterer. CVB would like to know whether Jason Hammack could provide catering service to the Conference Center if the customer paid the caterer directly.

La. R.S. 42:1113B prohibits an appointed member of any board or commission, member of his immediate family, or legal entity in which he has a substantial economic interest from bidding on or entering into or being in any way interested in any contract, subcontract, or other transaction which is under the supervision or jurisdiction of the agency of such appointed member.
