Mrs. Blake states this is the first time she has registered as a local lobbyist. This is the first late fee received and first request for a waiver.
Staff Information: In a phone conversation with the lobbying staff, she stated she was not aware that she was required to register within (5) days of an expenditure/activity. Due to her expenditure/activity on 6/13/18, she was required to register and submit payment by 6/18/18. Mrs. Blake completed her registration on 7/11/18.

R.S. 33:9664A provides that "[e]ach lobbyist shall register with the ethics board as soon as possible after employment as a lobbyist or after the first action requiring his registration as a lobbyist, whichever occurs first, and in any event not later than five days after employment as a lobbyist or not later than five days after the first action requiring his registration as a lobbyist, whichever occurs first."
La. R.S. 33:9668D(1) - Any person required to register and who fails to timely register and any person who fails to timely file any report required by this Chapter shall be assessed, pursuant to R.S. 42:1157, a late fee of fifty dollars per day.
