RE:
Waiver request submitted by Christopher S. "Washington" Thomas, a candidate in the March 24, 2018 election for the Mansfield Board of Aldermen - District B, Desoto Parish (Pop. 5001), regarding a $1500 late fee assessed for filing his amended 2017 Tier 3 candidate PFD 38 days late.
Facts:
Mr. Thomas is requesting a waiver due to his son's illness. His son was diagnosed with Type I diabetes and had been dealing with the symptoms of the disease since January of this year. He faxed the information in and thought it was complete. However, he states it did not go through, was given until February to complete it, and did not. Mr. Thomas, in addition to his sick son, states he had recently started back attending college working on his master's in education and working a full-time job as an administrator at Logansport High School. He states it was hard dealing with school, work and his child being sick and having to take insulin four times a day.
