Advisory opinion regarding whether outgoing City of Opelousas Alderman-at-Large Harvey Darbonne may be appointed to the Opelousas Housing Authority Board. |

Harvey Darbonne is the Alderman-at-Large for the City of Opelousas. His term expired on December 31, 2010. Mr. Darbonne would like to be appointed to the Opelousas Housing Authority by the Mayor of Opelousas following the expiration of his term of office.

Section 1121A(1) of the Code prohibits a former agency head, for a period of two years following the termination of his public service, from assisting another person for compensation in a transaction, or in an appearance in connection with a transaction, involving his former agency.
Section 1121A(2) of the Code prohibits a former member of a board for a period of two years from contracting with, being employed in any capacity by or being appointed to any position by his former board.
