Ronnie Gregoire, an elected councilman for the Town of Albany, would like to be employed as a police officer for the Town of Albany Police Department. The Town of Albany is governed under the Lawrason Act where the mayor and town council have decision making authority regarding the hiring and firing of police personnel with the police chief only making recommendations for these matters.

La. R.S. 42:1113 prohibits public servants, their immediate family members, or legal entities in which they have a controlling interest, from entering into any contract, subcontract, or other transaction that is under the supervision or jurisdiction of the agency of such public servant.
