Consent order signed by Martha Jones agreeing that she violated La. R.S. 42:1111A(1)(a), 1112B(1), 1113A(1)(a), and 1119A of the Code of Governmental Ethics by awarding herself commissions that she was not entitled, participating in certain transactions with the DeSoto Parish Council on Aging (DPCA) in which she had a substantial economic interest, entering into contracts with the DPCA and employing her husband within the DPCA.
Facts:
Martha Jones has signed a consent order agreeing that she violated La. R.S. 42:1111A(1)(a), 1112B(1), 1113A(1)(a), and 1119A and signed a confession of judgment regarding paying the remainder of the penalty imposed on her.
Law:
Section 1111A of the Code prohibits a public servant from receiving any thing of economic value, other than the benefits and compensation that she is entitled to receive from her governmental employer, for the performance of the duties of her public employment.
Section 1112 of the Code prohibit a public servant from participating in a transaction in which an immediate family member has a substantial economic interest. Section 1119 of the Code prohibits immediate family members from being employed within the agency of the agency head.

Section 1113 of the Code prohibits a public servant or a member of her immediate family from entering into transactions that are under the supervision of her agency.

Recommendations:
Adopt and publish the opinion and dismiss charges pending at the EAB.
