(Homer population is 2,964)
Facts:
Advisory opinion request from Patricia Jenkins regarding whether the Code of Governmental Ethics would prohibit her from continuing her employment with the State of Louisiana, Office of Motor Vehicles, (OMV) while serving as a Councilwoman for the Town of Homer, District 5. She provided that she was recently elected Councilwoman for District 5, effective January 1, 2019. She is currently employed as a part time custodian by the State of Louisiana, Office of Motor Vehicles, in the Homer field office. She stated that the Town of Homer and the State of Louisiana, Department of Public Safety and Corrections,(DPSC) have a cooperative agreement where the Town of Homer supplies the facility to house the OMV field office and DPSC agrees to levee a $3 fee on each transaction in the local OMV field office and remit that fee to the Town of Homer.
Recommendations:
Adopt draft advisory opinion.
