Mark Alan Pope is considering running for Lafayette City Council. Mr. Pope currently works part-time for Townsquare Media, a parent company for NewsTalk 96.5 KPEL Radio (KPEL). Mr. Pope's duties include producing commercials and public service announcements; writing "news briefs" to be presented on-air by other individuals;serving as a studio producer (set proper audio levels); and, serving as a substitute talk-show host when regular hosts are sick or on vacation.
Mr. Pope would like information relative to any conflict which might exist with his duty as a talk-show host and his candidacy for city council. Mr. Pope provided that any calls questioning his candidacy while he is hosting a talk show would result in the following response, "I am considering running, but this is not the proper format, nor the proper time, to discuss the issue - do you have a comment on our current topic?" Additionally, Mr. Pope provided that he would not discuss his views about issues dealing with the Lafayette City Council (past, present or future).
Finally, Mr. Pope questioned whether he could purchase advertisements at any of the seven radio stations owned by Townsquare Media.
