RE:
Request for an Advisory Opinion from the Monroe Housing Authority (Pop. 48,815) relative to re-hiring a retired employee.
Facts:
Karen Crowell retired from the Monroe Housing Authority on January 4, 2019 as the Executive Staff Officer responsible for assisting the Executive Director in administrative and strategic activities.

The Monroe Housing Authority would like to re-hire Ms. Crowell as a W-2 employee whereby her title and job duties would be similar to the job duties she performed prior to her retirement.

Comments:
James Rountree, legal counsel for the Monroe Housing Authority, submitted correspondence asking to withdraw the request for an advisory opinion which was confirmed by Kimberly Barlow who had made the original request.
Law:

R.S. 42:1121B prohibits a former public employee, for a period of two years following the termination of his public employment, from assisting another person, for compensation, in a transaction, or in an appearance in connection with a transaction in which such former public employee participated at any time during his public employment and involving the governmental entity by which he was formerly employed, or for a period of two years following termination of his public employment, rendering, any service which such former public employee had rendered to the agency, during the term of his public employment on a contractual basis, regardless of the parties to the contract, to, for, or on behalf of the agency with which he was formerly employed.
Recommendations:
Allow the withdrawal.
