RE:
Request that the Board waive the $400 campaign finance late fee assessed against Daniel Ray Smith, a candidate for Chief of Police, Town of Olla, LaSalle Parish, in the November 6, 2018 election, whose 10-G campaign finance disclosure report was filed 12 days late.
Facts:
Daniel Ray Smith states that it was his understanding that the final report was due prior to the election. He received notice and recognized his mistake after returning home from a cruise to Cozumel, which took place on the week of November 18th, 2018. This is his first election and learning the processes and procedures. He understands having to handle penalties for his ignorance, but he is pleading for a waiver. He will take any help available to him.
