Ben Burwell is currently employed by the Leesville Police Department in the Patrol Division. His duties include enforcing traffic regulations, answering service calls, public contacts, investigation, and providing uniform patrol within the City of Leesville.
The Leesville Police Department has purchased a computer software program designed and sold by Perceptive Intelligence LLC. The program allows law enforcement to share information throughout the nation. Through Mr. Burwell's duties as a police officer, he has become proficient with the daily use of the program.
Perceptive Intelligence is seeking police officers to train other police departments on using the program. Perceptive Intelligence would compensate the officers for any trainings conducted.

La. R.S. 42:1111C(1)(a) prohibits a public servant from receiving anything of economic value for any service, the subject matter of which is devoted substantially to the responsibilities, programs, or operations of the agency of the public servant and in which the public servant has participated.
La. R.S. 42:1111C(2)(d) prohibits a public servant from receiving anything of economic value for services provided to a person who has, or is seeking to obtain, a contractual, business, or financial relationship with the public servant's agency.
