Advisory opinion request regarding whether the Code of Governmental Ethics would prohibit Michael Sanders, the son of the Chairman of the Board for Fire District 1 in Natchitoches Parish, from being promoted to Fire Chief. |
|
Ricky Sanders has been the Chairman of the Board for District 1 for over a year. The Fire Chief recently quit and District 1 would like to promote his son, Michael Sanders, to the position. Michael Sanders has volunteered as a firefighter for District 1 for approximately 20 years and has served as Assistant Fire Chief the last eight months. All positions with District 1, including Fire Chief, are strictly volunteer with no compensation received.
