RE:
Consent opinion concerning Maxine Trahan, former employee of the Acadia Parish Sheriff's Office, regarding her embezzlement of cash.
Facts:
The Board authorized the staff to settle the matter with Ms. Trahan signing a consent opinion adopting the $226,000.51 civil penalty assessed against her in a Joint Stipulated Civil Money Judgment entered into on June 29, 2018 in a civil action brought in the 15th Judicial District Court case number 85836.

Ms. Trahan signed the consent opinion.


Law:
La. R.S. 42:1111A provides that no public servant shall receive anything of economic value, other than compensation and benefits from the governmental entity to which he is duly entitled, for the performance of the duties and responsibilities of his office or position.

La. R.S. 42:1112 provides that no public servant, except as provided in R.S. 42:1120, shall participate in a transaction in which he has a personal substantial economic interest of which he may be reasonably expected to know involving the governmental entity.

Recommendations:
Adopt and publish the consent opinion and dismiss charges.
