Advisory opinion request regarding the Village of Cankton contracting with a former Village Councilman.
Facts:
The Village of Cankton is seeking to contract with a former Village Councilman to create an official Village website. The unnamed councilman was appointed to complete the term of an elected councilman who resigned. He no longer serves on the council and owns the domain name the Village wishes to use for the website.
Comments:
Have not received a return call or email in over six weeks from the requesting party.
Law:
La. R.S. 42:1121A(2) provides that no former member of a board or commission shall, for a period of two years following the termination of his public service on such board or commission, contract with, be employed in any capacity by, or be appointed to any position by that board or commission.

Recommendations:
Decline to render an opinion until additional information is provided.
