The Pointe Coupee Parish School System declared a critical shortage in July 2019. The principal of Rougon Elementary School, Marcie Cazayoux, would like to hire her sister, Tara Zito Dugas, to work at the school as a contracted, paraprofessional with hourly earnings. The position incurs no leave or retirement and the assistant principal of Rougon Elementary School would be responsible for all observations and the final evaluation of Tara Zito Dugas.

La. R.S. 42:1113A(1)(a) states no public servant, or a member of such a public servant's immediate family, or a legal entity in which he has a controlling interest shall bid on or enter into any contract, subcontract or other transaction that is under the supervision or jurisdiction of the agency of such public servant.
La. R.S. 42:1119A prohibits an immediate family member of an agency head from being employed in her agency.
