Request to waive the $700 late fee assessed against Cynthia Duet for filing her 2019 lobbying registration 14 days late.
Facts:
Ms. Duet states that after she re-read the lobbying laws and reviewed the information on the Ethics' website, she realized she made mistakes while entering her information. She states that in the section that asks for the start date of the work, she entered the date of the signing of the contracts; and when asked "when did you start getting paid for work in this capacity," she entered the first date she was paid for the entire contract even though she had conducted no lobbying activity. Ms Duet has amended the start dates for each representation.

Law:
R.S. 49:74A and 24:53A provide that "[e]ach lobbyist shall register with the ethics board as soon as possible after employment as a lobbyist or after the first action requiring his registration as a lobbyist, whichever occurs first, and in any event not later than five days after employment as a lobbyist or not later than five days after the first action requiring his registration as a lobbyist, whichever occurs first."
Recommendations:
Rescind the late fee.
