Request that the Board waive the $200 campaign finance late fee assessed against Thompson PAC, a political action committee, its committee's chairperson, Francis Thompson, and treasurer, Sharon Gilmore, whose September 2019 Monthly campaign finance report was filed 1 day late. |
|
Francis Thompson, Chairperson for Thompson PAC, requests a waiver and states the following:
During the time of this particular reporting period, he and his staff had just completed their annual fundraiser event which takes months of planning and filing afterwards. Also, he was actively working on his re-election campaign, requiring him and his staff to be out of the office for several days. In addition, a very dear close friend and community leader had passed away and he was called to serve at his funeral several hours away. All of these events combined resulted in filing the report on the day they all returned to the office. In 45 years as a public servant, he has never missed a reporting deadline or been fined by the Board of Ethics.
