Lisa Paine has served as a volunteer board member of the Independence Housing Authority since she was appointed on August 14, 2018. Her term expires on August 14, 2023. La. R.S. 40:427 requires the Mayor of the Town of Independence to appoint members of the Independence Housing Authority Board of Commissioners. Lisa Paine's husband, Jim Paine, was recently elected as Mayor of the Town of Independence and will begin serving on July 1, 2020.

R.S. 42:1113A(1)(a) states no public servant, or a member of such a public servant's immediate family, or a legal entity in which he has a controlling interest shall bid on or enter into any contract, subcontract or other transaction that is under the supervision or jurisdiction of the agency of such public servant.
