RE:
Request that the Board waive a $540 campaign finance late fee assessed against LaKeisha J. Johnson, a candidate for Clerk of Court, Ouachita Parish in the October 12, 2019 election, whose 10-G campaign finance disclosure report was filed 9 days late.
Facts:
LaKeisha J. Johnson request a waiver and states the following:
As a first-time candidate, she simply misread the schedule and didn't anticipate having to file any further reports after failing to win the primary election. When she was notified of the oversight, she filed the report almost immediately. Also, in light of the recent COVID-19 pandemic, she would ask that it be waived to allow those funds to be better spent on food, water, and necessary supplies that will enable herself and her family to "shelter in place" for the upcoming weeks and for however long it becomes necessary.

Staff notes - Candidates in the fall 2019 primary election, who filed reports using the LEADERS system, were sent an email reminding them to file a 10-G report.
