Request that the Board waive a $3,000 campaign finance late fee assessed against United Food and Commercial Workers International Union Active Ballot Club, a political committee, the committee's chairperson, Anthony Perrone, and treasurer, Shaun Barclay, in the October 12, 2019, whose 10-G campaign finance disclosure report was filed 20 days late. |
|
Shaun Barclay, International Secretary-Treasurer, requests a waiver and states the following:
Prior to making the contribution that triggered the reporting, UFCW ABC had not been active in Louisiana. The staff who carried out the contribution were unfamiliar with state reporting requirements and there was a delay in internal communication with UFCW ABC's compliance staff about the contribution. As soon as compliance staff learned about the contribution, they immediately filed the appropriate report. UFCW ABC sincerely apologizes for its mistake. They take compliance seriously, and discovered its error in the ordinary course of compliance checks and without prompting by the Board of Ethics. They have since taken internal administrative steps, including training staff on measures to prevent a recurrence.
Staff notes:
The PAC dissolved on January 22, 2020.
