The Board considered Mark Pope's initial waiver request at its March 6, 2020 meeting. In connection with the initial request, Mr. Pope stated the following:
He has never run for public office, and he was not aware of the overwhelming amount of work, scheduling, coordinating, and commitments of time involved in a run for public office. He knew the due date of 10-P report, but it was submitted late because he was made aware of a smear campaign that was being planned against him to tie him and other candidates for public office to the Klu Klux Klan. He became enraged and his emotions overwhelmed him. He prepared and submitted the report within a week of receiving the letter from Ethics Board.
The Board declined to waive the late fee.
Mr. Pope submitted a request for reconsideration to make an appearance before the Board. He also submitted additional information, which is attached to this agenda item.
