RE:
Election of Vice Chairman for the Louisiana Board of Ethics.
Facts:
Dr. Louis Leggio served as the Board's Vice Chairman. Dr. Leggio served two terms as a member of the Louisiana Board of Ethics and is no longer a member of the board.
Law:
La. R.S. 42:1133D provides that "[t]he board shall elect a chairman from among its members to serve a two-year term. The board shall select other officers from among its members."



Section 201A of the Rules for the Louisiana Board of Ethics provides that "[t]he chairman and vice-chairman shall be elected for a two-year term at the first meeting held following January 1 of each odd-numbered year commencing with January 1, 1997."



Section 201B of the Rules for the Louisiana Board of Ethics provides that "[i]n the case of a vacancy in the office of chairman or vice-chairman, the board shall elect a new chairman or vice-chairman who shall serve until the expiration of the vacated term."
