RE:
Appearance by Emalie A. Boyce, Director of the Division of Administrative Law, to select an administrative law judge to serve as an alternate on the Ethics Adjudicatory Board.
Facts:
A vacancy was created by the alternate's resignation from the Division of Administrative Law. Administrative Law Judge William "Joe" Cleveland served as the alternate member of the EAB.
Comments:
The current term of the members of the Ethics Adjudicatory Board ends December 31, 2022.

Law:
R.S. 42:1141.2A provides that the seven members of the EAB shall be randomly selected by the Division of Administrative Law Director at a public meeting of the Ethics Board from among the names of those administrative law judges who meet the qualifications. The last selected judge shall serve as the alternate.


R.S. 42:1141.2B(1) provides that the members of the EAB shall serve a three-year term.
R.S. 42:1141.2B(3) provides that a vacancy on the EAB shall be filled for the unexpired term at the next public meeting of the Board of Ethics and in the same manner as for the original selection.
