RE:
Request that the Board waive the $1,140 late fee assessed against Curtis "Curt" Hodge, a candidate for Sheriff of Washington Parish in the October 22, 2011 election, whose 30-P campaign finance disclosure report was filed 19 days late.
Facts:
In connection with his request for a waiver of the $600 late fee assessed for the late filing of a 30-P campaign finance report, Curtis "Curt" Hodge states that during the month of September, his wife and children were hospitalized at LSU Bogalusa Medical Center. In addition, his aunt became severely ill and was also hospitalized at LSU Bogalusa Medical Center. He maintains that upon her release from the hospital, he had the responsibility of caring for her until her passing on October 11, 2011. He has provided signatures from physicians who confirmed that his family was hospitalized during the time his report was due. Mr. Hodge is a district level candidate. This is his first campaign. He was an unsuccessful candidate.
