Advisory opinion regarding whether the son of Vong Nguyen, a member of the Intercultural Charter School Board, may be employed as a para-professional with the charter school. |

Vong Nguyen has been a member of the Intercultural Charter School Board since August 1, 2008. His son, Huan Nguyen, is seeking a position with the school board as a para professional to support ISS ("in school suspension"). Mr. Nguyen is not certified to teach; however, he will be teaching students in a classroom.

La. R.S. 42:1119B(2)(a)(i) permits the school board to employ an immediate family member of a school board member, provided the family member is certified to teach and teaching in a classroom.
