Request that the Board waive the $300 and $420 campaign finance late fees assessed against Robert Mik, a candidate for Desoto Parish Clerk of Court, in the October 22, 2011 election, whose 10-P and EDE-P campaign finance disclosure reports were filed 5 and 7 days late. |

In connection with his request for a waiver of the $300 and $420 late fees assessed for the late filings of a 10-P and EDE-P campaign finance reports, Robert Mik states he admits that he did not timely file his 10-P report. He was so involved in his campaign, that he missed the filing deadline for the report. As for his EDE-P report, he states that he believed he wasn't required to file an EDE-P report because he did not have expenditures on election day. His reasoning is that it didn't make sense to file an EDE-P report and then file a final report eight days later. Additionally, Mr. Mik states that he is a disabled veteran who has recently been diagnosed with Esophageal cancer and treatment for the disease will cost him a considerable amount of money. Mr. Mik is a district level candidate. This is his first campaign. He was an unsuccessful candidate.

18:1505.4.A(1) Any candidate, the treasurer or chairman of a political committee, or any other person required to file any reports under this Chapter, who knowingly fails to file or who knowingly fails to timely file any such reports as are required by this Chapter may be assessed a civil penalty as provided in R.S.42:1157 for each day until such report is filed.
