Advisory opinion request regarding a company owned by Glenda Stock entering into a contract with LSU-A while she serves on the LSU-A Foundation Board of Directors. |

Glenda Stock is a member of the Louisiana State University Alexandria Foundation Board of Directors. Mrs. Stock, together with her husband, own Golden Stock Enterprises, Inc., which owns and operates several McDonald's restaurants in the Alexandria Area. LSU-A officials would like to have the Golden Stock owned McDonald's conduct sales on the campus one day a week.
LSU-A Foundation is a nonprofit affiliated with LSU-A pursuant to R.S. 17:3390. LSU-A Foundation does provide a salary supplement to the LSU-A Director of Institutional Advancement and is authorized to provide travel expenses for LSU-A employees.

La. R.S. 42:1113B prohibits an appointed member of a board or commission, his immediate family member, or a legal entity in which they have a substantial economic interest, from entering into or being in any way interested in a transaction that is under the supervision or jurisdiction of the board or commission.
