RE:
Advisory opinion regarding whether Doris Dudley, an employee of DHH/South Central Louisiana Human Services Authority Developmental Disabilities Office in Thibodaux, may serve on 40th JDC Children and Youth Services Planning Board.
Facts:
Doris Dudley is employed by DHH/South Central Louisiana Human Services Authority Developmental Disabilities Office in Thibodaux. She recently learned of the existence of the 40th Judicial District Court Children and Youth Services Planning Board housed in St. John the Baptist Parish. The chair of the board is employed by the Office of Juvenile Justice Services. The primary purpose of the board is to strategically plan to reduce the growing rate of children entering into the criminal justice system and Department of Children Youth and Family Services.

Ms. Dudley would like serve on the 40th JDC Children and Youth Services Planning Board or otherwise be involved in the board's efforts to help save children. As an employee of the Developmental Disabilities Office, Ms. Dudley must attend court when a juvenile is involved with DCFS or OJJ if the juvenile qualifies for developmental disabilities services. As a result, even though she may have not had to do so in several years, she may have to attend court at the 40th JDC.

Law:
R.S. 42:111C(1)(a) of the Code prohibits a public employee from receiving any thing of economic value for any service, the subject matter of which is devoted substantially to the responsibilities, programs, or operations of the agency of the public servant and in which the public servant has participated.
Recommendations:
Adopt proposed advisory opinion.

Assigned Attorney: Deidra Godfrey
