Request that the Board waive the $400 and $320 campaign finance late fees assessed against Renesse Anthony Landry, a candidate for St. Mary Parish Council, District 6 in the October 22, 2011 election, whose EDE-P and 10-G campaign finance disclosure reports were filed 16 and 8 days late.
Facts:
In connection with his request for a waiver of the $400 and $320 late fees assessed for the late filings of an EDE-P and 10-G campaign finance reports, Renesse Anthony Landry, states that he is a first time candidate who was unfamiliar with filing requirements for the reports. He maintains that his campaign had a budget of $800 and ask that the Board waive the late fees. Mr. Landry is an "any other" level candidate. He was an unsuccessful candidate.

18:1505.4.A(1) Any candidate, the treasurer or chairman of a political committee, or any other person required to file any reports under this Chapter, who knowingly fails to file or who knowingly fails to timely file any such reports as are required by this Chapter may be assessed a civil penalty as provided in R.S.42:1157 for each day until such report is filed.

Recommendations:
Suspend all but $100 on the EDE-P report and decline to waive the 10-G.
