In connection with her request for a waiver of the $700 late fee assessed for the late filing of an EDE-P campaign finance report, Madeline Jasmine, states that the October 22, 2011 election was her second election that she has been involved in since 1990. In 1990, she had a campaign committee who handled every detail of her campaign. The October election was different, as that she had the responsibility of meeting every deadline. Ms. Jasmine states that although she was familiar with all of the due dates, the due date for filing her EDE-P report escaped her. She maintains that the report was immediately filed once she realized she missed the due date. She further states that the $700 late fee would be a financial hardship and asks that the Board waive the late fee. Ms. Jasmine is a major level candidate. This is her sixth campaign. She was an unsuccessful candidate.

18:1505.4.A(1) Any candidate, the treasurer or chairman of a political committee, or any other person required to file any reports under this Chapter, who knowingly fails to file or who knowingly fails to timely file any such reports as are required by this Chapter may be assessed a civil penalty as provided in R.S.42:1157 for each day until such report is filed.
