RE:
Request that the Board waive the $250 late fee assessed against John Morgan for failure to timely file his 2010 Lobbyist Registration.
Facts:
Mr. Morgan filed his Executive Registration report that was due by December 5, 2010, five days late on December 10, 2010. He was assessed a late fee of $250. Mr. Morgan states that he believes this late fee should be waived and is in error.

Law:
La R.S. 24:53E states a registration shall expire on December thirty-first of each year unless the lobbyist submits a renewal on forms provided by the Board along with the appropriate fee. The registrant may file his renewal any time from December first until January thirty-first. Failure to file the renewal form by January thirty-first each year shall cause the registration to expire retroactively as of December thirty-first of the preceding year. La R.S. 24:58D(1) states that any person required to register and who fails to timely register and any person who fails to timely file any report required by this Part shall be assessed, pursuant to R.S. 42:1157, a late fee of fifty dollars per day.
