Request that the Board waive the $600 campaign finance late fee assessed against Ronnie L. Traylor, a candidate for State Representative, District 16, in the October 22, 2011 election, whose 10-G campaign finance disclosure report was filed 14 days late.
Facts:
In connection with his request for a waiver of the $600 late fee assessed for the late filing of a 10-G campaign finance report, Ronnie L. Traylor states he is a first time candidate who was unfamiliar with reporting and filing requirements. He further states that he made every effort to file his reports in a timely manner, however, he failed to fully understand the process. Mr. Traylor maintains that he did not receive a large number of contributions and he spent $5,000 of his 401K savings. He is not in a position to pay his late fee, ask that the late fee be waived. Mr. Traylor is a district level candidate. He was an unsuccessful candidate.

Law:
18:1505.4.A(1) Any candidate, the treasurer or chairman of a political committee, or any other person required to file any reports under this Chapter, who knowingly fails to file or who knowingly fails to timely file any such reports as are required by this Chapter may be assessed a civil penalty as provided in R.S.42:1157 for each day until such report is filed.
