In connection with her request for a waiver of the $360 late fee assessed for the late filing of a Supplemental campaign finance report, Theresa-Marie Ellender states that her treasurer was confused with the filing date of the report. She maintains that her treasurer believed that the report was due on the 25th of February instead of the 15th. She told her treasurer that the report was due on the 15th and her treasurer immediately filed the report. Ms. Ellender further states that she has used some money for her campaign finance account, and only has about $500 remaining in the account. To pay the $360 late fee would only leave her with $240 in her campaign account. Ms. Ellender is a district level candidate. This is her first campaign. She was an unsuccessful candidate.

18:1505.4.A(1) Any candidate, the treasurer or chairman of a political committee, or any other person required to file any reports under this Chapter, who knowingly fails to file or who knowingly fails to timely file any such reports as are required by this Chapter may be assessed a civil penalty as provided in R.S.42:1157 for each day until such report is filed.
