In connection with his request for a waiver of the $500, $180, and $1,20 late fees assessed for the late filings of three (3) Special campaign finance reports, Craig James Johnston, states that he reviewed all of the paperwork provided to him and cannot see where it is specified in any of the rules/instructions that the 48 hours report is due within 48 hours per transaction. He further states that it is his interpretation that the 48 hours report should be filed 48 hours from the date of the election. Mr. Johnston is an any other level candidate. This is his first campaign. He was an unsuccessful candidate.

18:1505.4.A(1) Any candidate, the treasurer or chairman of a political committee, or any other person required to file any reports under this Chapter, who knowingly fails to file or who knowingly fails to timely file any such reports as are required by this Chapter may be assessed a civil penalty as provided in R.S.42:1157 for each day until such report is filed.
