RE:
Request that the Board waive the $300 campaign finance late fee assessed against Victoria Goldstein, a candidate for Jefferson Parish School Board, District 1 in the October 2, 2010 election, whose Supplemental campaign finance disclosure report was filed 5 days late.
Facts:
In connection with her request for a waiver of the $300 late fee assessed for the late filing of a Supplemental campaign finance report, Victoria Goldstein, states that she fully funded her campaign, and did not accept any contributions. Ms. Goldstein further states that she attempted to download the LEADERS software on the date the report was due, and realized that she did not have a password. On the morning of Thursday, February 16, 2012, she had her electronic affidavit notarized and mailed the affidavit on the same day. Thereafter, on Monday, February 20, 2012, she filed her report, after receiving the password. Ms. Goldstein maintains that it was not her intent to purposefully disregard the Board's requirements. She had become accustomed to filing all prior reports via fax. Once she realized what happened, she took immediate steps to remedy the situation. Ms. Goldstein is a district level candidate. This is her first campaign. She was an unsuccessful candidate.
