In connection with his request for a waiver of the $3,000 and $3,000 late fees assessed for the late filings of a Special and 40-G campaign finance reports, Samuel Wilson, Chairman on behalf of the committee, states that the reports were filed untimely because he has been ill and unable to attend to his business and personal matters. He states that Allyn Wilson, the committee's Treasurer, had heart surgery during the time the reports were due and was unable to take care of the filings in his absence.

18:1505.4.A(1) Any candidate, the treasurer or chairman of a political committee, or any other person required to file any reports under this Chapter, who knowingly fails to file or who knowingly fails to timely file any such reports as are required by this Chapter may be assessed a civil penalty as provided in R.S.42:1157 for each day until such report is filed.
52:1205B(1) provides that the staff of the Board shall rescind an assessed late fee of the candidate where an immediate family member of the person responsible for filing of the reports has died on the date the report was due or seven days prior to the due date of the report (2)or a serious medical condition prevented the responsible report preparer from preparing the reports.
