In connection with his request for a waiver of the $3,000, $2,000, and $2,000 late fee assessed for the late filings of a 30-P, 10-P, and 10-G campaign finance reports, Ronald A. Gitz, II, Treasurer on behalf of the committee, states that the committee acknowledges that errors were made in compliance with the period reports for 2011, but feels that the mistakes were inadvertent and not intentional. The committee is in the process of converting to a monthly electronic reporting schedule so that it will avoid any issues of failure to file a proper period report in the future. Mr. Gitz maintains that if their PAC is forced to pay the $7,000 late fee, it will consume a considerable amount of its cash balance. Likely, its supporting organization, the Society of Louisiana CPA's, will have to front funds to help pay it. He asks that the Board waive or reduce the $7,000 late fee.

18:1505.4.A(1) Any candidate, the treasurer or chairman of a political committee, or any other person required to file any reports under this Chapter, who knowingly fails to file or who knowingly fails to timely file any such reports as are required by this Chapter may be assessed a civil penalty as provided in R.S.42:1157 for each day until such report is filed.
