RE:
Request for an advisory opinion regarding whether the step-daughter of a Board Member of the East Carroll Parish Library Board of Control may be employed as Library Director.
Facts:
The East Carroll Parish Library Board of Control wishes to employ the step-daughter of one of its Board Members as its Library Director. The employee being considered for the position is the daughter from a previous marriage of a Board Member's wife.
Law:
Section 1119(B) of the Code of Governmental Ethics prohibits an immediate family member of a member of a governing authority from being employed by the governmental entity.
Section 1102(13) of the Code of Governmental Ethics defines "immediate family", as the term relates to a public servant, as his children, the spouses of his children, his brothers and their spouses, his sisters and their spouses, his parents, his spouse, and the parents of his spouse.

Recommendations:
Adopt the proposed advisory opinion.
