RE:
Request that the Board waive the $480 campaign finance late fee assessed against Jason Coleman, a candidate for Orleans Parish School Board, District 6, in the November 6, 2012 election, whose 10-G campaign finance disclosure report was filed 8 days late.
Facts:
In connection with his request for a waiver of the $480 late fee assessed for the late filing of a 10-G campaign finance report, Jason Coleman states that his contracted CPA closed out his campaign account on November 28, 2012. Upon receipt of notice from campaign finance division, he contacted his accountant and his accountant immediately filed the report on November 6, 2012. His accountant had been taking continuing education certification classes, which is why the report was untimely filed. Mr. Coleman further states that his campaign account has $132.23 and he would like to donate to a deserving charity. Mr. Coleman is a district level candidate. This is his first campaign. He was an unsuccessful candidate.
