RE:
Request that the Board waive the $160 campaign finance late fee assessed against Jimmy Lafont, a candidate for Greater Lafourche Port Commission, Div. C, in the November 6, 2012 election, whose EDE-P campaign finance disclosure report was filed 4 days late.
Facts:
In connection with his request for a waiver of the $160 late fee assessed for the late filing of an EDE-P campaign finance report, Jimmy Lafont states that he was campaigning for re-election and missed the filing deadline for his report. As soon as he realized his report was due, he immediately filed the report. Mr. Lafont maintains that in all of the twelve years he has been in office, this is the first time he has ever been assessed a late fee. Mr. Lafont is an any other level candidate. This is his fourth campaign. He was an unsuccessful candidate.
