Request that the Board waive the $440 campaign finance late fee assessed against Citizens for West Feliciana Parish, a political action committee, whose 40-day after the election campaign finance disclosure report was filed 11 days late. |

In connection with his request for a waiver of the $440 late fee assessed for the late filing of a 40-day after the election campaign finance report, Jesse L. Means, Jr., on behalf of the committee, states that in the early part of January, he spoke with a campaign finance compliance officer regarding reporting requirements. He misunderstood the filing due date that he was given. He believed that he heard the date of February 15th, instead of January 17th, as a filing due date for the report.
Mr. Means maintains that he has a hearing impairment and simply misunderstood the due date. He further states that the committee's chairman, nor he, has ever done any reporting before. Their committee was not for supporting a candidate, but for a one-time issue (the committee opposed a proposition regarding the Home Rule Charter).
Their contributions and expenses were under $3,000 and they only have $84 dollars in the account. Mr. Means further states that they are anxious to close out the account and dissolve the committee.
