Mr. Cassimere received his late fee order on December 3, 2012. Mr. Cassimere failed to request a waiver or appeal the assessment. In January 2013, he received a demand letter requesting payment. In response to the demand letter, Mr. Cassimere is now requesting a waiver of the late fees.
Mr. Cassimere states that he was serving as Interim Superintendent and that he was not aware of the filing requirement. He states the system is going through very difficult times as it relates to the district's finances. Mr. Cassimere is performing the duties of Interim Superintendent/Acting Superintendent as well as Assistant Superintendent. He states he has a lot on his plate.

La. R.S. 42:1119B(2)(a)(iii) requires that within thirty days after the beginning of each school year, any school board member or superintendent whose immediate family member is employed by the school board shall file a disclosure statement with the Board of Ethics stating the facts of such employment. Any person who fails to timely file a disclosure statement may be assessed a late fee of fifty dollars per day, not to exceed $1,500.
