Nathaniel Savoy is a police officer with the Ville Platte Police department, which is located in Evangeline Parish. Mr. Savoy recently obtained his license to produce bail along with a bail bonding agency license. Mr. Savoy recently organized his own company, Savoy's Bail Bonding Service, LLC. Mr Savoy intends to produce bail in parishes other than Evangeline.

An opinion was issued at the last board meeting in this matter. Mr. Savoy would like the opinion clarified to state that not only is his company not prohibited, but he, individually, is not prohibited. The Staff has has no issues with the clarification.

La. R.S. 42:1113A states no public servant, or a member of such a public servant's immediate family, or a legal entity in which he has a controlling interest shall bid on or enter into any contract, subcontract or other transaction that is under the supervision or jurisdiction of the agency of such public servant.
