Advisory opinion request from Mr. Lynn Guidry a member of the Lafayette Parish School System "Community Education Plan Committee" regarding whether he may bid on a project with the Lafayette Parish School System for Architecture services. |

Mr. Guidry has been selected to serve on the "Community Education Plan Committee" (Committee). The Committee is made up of a variety of community leaders, faculty, parents and staff. The Committee is to study the "six year plan" from the Lafayette Parish School System(LPSS) and make recommendations on funding and facility needs. This is to be done in the form of a non-binding resolution. The Committee will begin meeting in February of 2013 and terminate May of 2013 with the submission of their resolution.
Mr. Guidry would like to know if the Committee were to recommend that a Tax referendum be put on the ballot to fund repairs, remodeling and possibly building schools would he be prohibited from bidding on the projects if the tax passes. This Committee will be disbanded in May of 2013 after it submits its resolution to the LPSS. Mr. Guidry has no other ties to the LPSS. This Committee will not play any role in the selection process for any architecture services.
