RE:
Advisory opinion request concerning post-employment restrictions that would apply to the former Assessor of Acadia Parish.
Facts:
Mike Goss' term as Assessor for Acadia Parish ended on December 31, 2012, and he is considering becoming employed with a software company that does business with Louisiana elected officials such as sheriffs, clerks of court, assessors, judges and school boards. The software company has provided software products and support services to the Acadia Parish Assessor's Office for more than twenty years prior to Mr. Goss' involvement with the office.
Law:

R.S. 42:1121A(1) states that no former agency head or elected official shall, for a period of two years following the termination of his public service as the head of such agency or as an elected public official serving in such agency, assist another person, for compensation, in a transaction, or in an appearance in connection with a transaction, involving that agency or render any service on a contractual basis to or for such agency.
Recommendations:
Adopt the proposed advisory opinion.
